  • Keynote Luncheon Speaker: Debbie Phelps, inspiring motivator, principal of a STEM school and the mother of 8-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps.
  • SESSION DESCRIPTIONS: Find out about scheduled presentations, such as the SMART Content Creation Seminar and concurrent workshops.

    On September 29, SMART Technologies will be offering the Content Creation Seminar during the institute to select educators who have experience with SMART products and are enthusiastic about designing lesson activities to increase student engagement and participation.   • SITE VISIT SCHOOLS:   Learn more about the extraordinary schools participants will be visiting while at the Institute. Choose from DeLay Middle School, Lewisville ISD; Heritage Elementary School, Grapevine-Collyville ISD; New Tech High @ Coppell, Coppell ISD; and Samuel Beck Elementary School, Northwest ISD.

Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence in partnership with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and SMART Technologies, Inc.,

will be hosting a two-day professional sharing and learning institute for preK-12 teachers, specialists, paraeducators and

administrators at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on September

29-30, 2009.

ê     How to become a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School

ê     Workshop sessions by K-12 teachers and administrators sharing best practices in the areas of science and

      technology, literacy, curriculum, instructional practices, wellness and social-emotional behavior

ê     Visiting a 21st Century Classroom of SMART products

ê     Sharing best practices of THINKING MAPS for elementary and secondary schools

ê     Meeting with principals from Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools and site visits to exceptional schools in the Dallas/Fort

      Worth area

ê     Workshops on SMART Content Creation, Bilingual & ESOL Education, Technology Integration, Leadership, and

      SMART Board Training Workshops   

ê     Keynote Speaker: Dr. Phillip Schlechty, founder and CEO of the Center for Leadership in School Reform and author of "Inventing Better Schools: An Action Plan for Educational Reform," "Schools for the 21st Century: Leadership
